Team Ohio recently competed in the 2024 JCC Maccabi Games in Detroit, July 28 – August 2. The group consisted of 22 athletes from Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, and Youngstown.
The event kicked off with Opening Ceremonies at the Little Caesers Arena in downtown Detroit. Throughout the week, 1,200 Jewish teenagers from across the country and world, including Canada, Hungary, Israel, Ukraine and Mexico, and the United States of America, competed in a variety of sports during the day. In the evening, the teen athletes had a chance to spend time with other teens at fun social events.
Mazel Tov to Team Ohio’s winning medalists!
· Deena and Soshana Mayers from Cincinnati won gold in Girls Basketball.
· Ellijah Hall Bromberg from Columbus won two gold medals in Golf.
· Tres and Blythe Hively from Youngstown won several gold, silver, and bronze medals in Swimming.
· Madelyne Freed, Ellery Freed, and Julia Rhodes of Toledo won bronze in 14U Girls Soccer.
Athletes also competed in 14U Baseball (Columbus and Toledo), 16U Hockey (Coumbus and Toledo), 14U 3v3 Basketball (Youngstown), 16U Girls Soccer (Toledo), and 16U Boys Tennis (Dayton).
