NOTE: Class names have changed.
Caregivers will be in the water with their children (required) to help them become familiar with the pool. Participants will learn through songs and games in a small group setting of up to six children.
Water Acclimation, Submersion, Air Exchange
For those with little experience in the water, classes are taught in a small group setting of up to six participants. Swimmers will become familiar with the water through fun activities while learning about water safety. Lessons will include putting faces in the water, water submersion, floating with assistance, rolling front to back assisted, and streamlining with assistance.
Body Position, Forward Momentum
This class is for swimmers who are comfortable in the water, can fully submerge while blowing bubbles, and are comfortable floating on their back with assistance. This group will learn to float and kick on their front and back unassisted, including guided practice to help improve already learned skills as well as the beginning of stroke development (Freestyle & Backstroke). Swimmers will also begin learning how to tread water.
Intro to Competitive Strokes
This class is for swimmers who have successfully mastered all skills from previous levels, can perform those skills without assistance, and can kick 15-20 feet while floating on their back unassisted. Participants will learn to tread water, kick both on their front and back in streamline unassisted, learn to roll from front to back in streamline, and begin the basics of stroke development.
This class is for swimmers who can tread water unassisted for at least 15 seconds, can side glide with kick, can roll front to back & back to front in streamline, and can side glide – perform overarm pull to initiate a roll to the opposite side – side glide – rest and breathe. Participants will learn to swim basic freestyle with rotary breathing, and backstroke. There will be a focus on exhalation with face in water, and body rotation.
Our Swim Team Clinic puts an emphasis on learning proper stroke technique over speed. This foundation ensures that students’ progress much faster when the time comes for them to work on speed. In addition to group instruction, the children also have the opportunity to receive individual attention from the instructor. The children work on advanced skills that are beyond basic swimming, such as starts from the deck and flip turns. This class is fast paced, fun, and the children build strength and stamina while learning.
