Camp at the J strives to include all campers. We do not deny admission to our camp, or to the benefits of our program services because of race, color, national origin, gender identity, ability, or age. Camp at the J is proud to offer an inclusive summer camp environment with 2:1 or 1:1 advocate. This program is generously funded in part by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and the Milton and Frances Schloss Special Needs and Services Department. Advocates are counselors that attend a comprehensive training based on working with children who have physical and cognitive disabilities. By providing this assistance at no extra cost, it allows the camper to be fully included in the camp setting with the rest of their bunk-mates. Advocates use a holistic approach to enhance skills, build self-confidence, develop social connections, and foster independence. Campers receive a full assessment, written goals, and evaluation of progress.
