Join us for our Senior Celebrations at the J to observe various holidays throughout the year. We also meet for a delicious lunch out with friends.

Celebrate the holidays with us! From Thanksgiving to Purim, and even Mother’s Day, there’s many reasons to gather and share a meal at the J. In addition, we make plans about once a month to meet at a local restaurant to enjoy lunch together.

This class will explore the timeless wisdom of Pirkei Avot—teachings on character, relationships, purpose, and how we live our values—through thoughtful text study and rich group conversation. Rooted in the spiritual rhythm of the Omer, a season of growth and self-refinement, the class offers space to connect Jewish wisdom to everyday living. No prior text-study background is needed—just curiosity and a love of meaningful discussion in community.

This program is only open to members of the JCC and/or 60 & Better Center. You can learn more about our 60 & Better Center here or contact Melissa Shrimplin at 513.761.7500 ext. 1218.  Come learn with Donald Hordes about the US Supreme Court’s evolving philosophy on Separation of Church and State and the history beginning in the early 1960’s to present. Donald graduated from the George Washington University School of Law in 1969. After serving as a JAG officer in the United States Air Force and then working several years for the National Labor Relations Board, he entered the private practice of law in Cincinnati in 1981.

She has a Doctorate in Flute Performance from CCM and her early adoption of YouTube earned her an international following and the nickname “The Internet Flutist.” She is Executive Director of the Foundation for Cincinnati Jewish Seniors and in her free time enjoys blending her love of Jewish culture and communal life with comedic storytelling. She describes her standup comedy style as monothematic, stream of consciousness, observational character comedy…with sing-a-longs and a shterai of yiddish. Light appetizers and refreshments will be served during the show.

Join Rabbi Sammy Kanter for discussion and exploration of passages from the book This is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared by Rabbi Alan Lew. The book will guide us into thoughtful discussions about the meaning of the holidays, theological questions, and t’shuvah, the spiritual work of the season.
