Celebrate the festival of Sukkot* this fall with the Under One Roof community art exhibit in our sukkah. The Under One Roof Sukkah Art Exhibit will be on display in a temporary sukkah in the Mayerson JCC courtyard and will feature artwork designed by various individuals and groups as they interpret the central theme, Chai.
Chai is the Hebrew word for life. The two letters that make up the word, chet and yud, add up to the number 18. As we celebrate the JCC’s milestone 18th year, we contemplate how this building, and the people within it, have transformed and flourished.
What brings the JCC to life after 18 years in this building? Our answer – the community that calls this place home.
*Sukkot (often translated as the “Festival of Booths” or “Tabernacles”) is a major weeklong Jewish holiday. It serves a dual purpose: celebrating the fall harvest and commemorating the temporary shelters the Israelites lived in during their 40-year journey through the Sinai desert.
Presented by the Rockwern Charitable Foundation.
Sponsored by the Rockwern Charitable Foundation, The Friedlander Family, Jean E. Feinberg, and Jen & John Stein.
