Assistant Aquatics Director

Job Description

Arch Amenities Group, the world’s leading spa, fitness and leisure management firm, is seeking a full time Assistant Aquatics Director at the Mayerson JCC of Cincinnati. The Aquatics Assistant Director, under the direction of the Aquatics Director, will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the aquatics department; implementing policies and strategic plans for pool usage and staff management; pool and marina management and maintenance; training and supervision of staff; ensuring the highest levels of member satisfaction; and possess the ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve goals and exceed member expectations.

Purpose

To support and oversee all aspects of the aquatic facility’s operations and aquatic programs, ensuring a safe, efficient, and enjoyable environment for patrons and staff. The Aquatic Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the leadership team with strategic planning and day-to-day management of the facility. This role will also support in creating engaging and safe aquatic experiences for patrons of all ages and abilities.This position plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and ensuring high-quality participant satisfaction while maximizing the facility’s financial performance and community impact.

Responsibilities

Aquatic Operations

  • Support with and coordinate training for aquatic staff, including instructors and lifeguards
  • Assist with conducting staff evaluations and report feedback to Aquatic leadership team
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in the aquatics field
  • Enforcement of all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Secures substitutes and fills holes in lifeguard schedule
  • Maintain all chemical records, daily cleaning and safety checklists
  • Balances pool chemicals to meet mandated levels/standards.
  • Submits incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Support and assist with ongoing maintenance: adjust feeders when necessary, check operations of pump and flow meter, vacuum pool, wash down deck and pump room, clean stainless steel and filters, record pool readings, etc.
  • Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform.
  • Ensures Aquatics Team Members provide a clean, safe, and friendly environment for the Members.
  • Supports with maintaining all chemical records, daily cleaning and safety checklists
  • Is timely and punctual when reporting to work.
  • Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
  • Assist with functions and tasks associated with special events.
  • Lifeguards for at least 15 hours per week.
  • Provides exceptional customer service
  • Supports in creating a fun & safe aquatics environment.
  • Any other task and/or duty assigned by the Aquatics Director, Assistant General Manager and/or the General Manager as deemed necessary.

Aquatic Programs 

  • Be knowledgeable of registration processes for group lessons
  • Monitor program quality and safety, assisting with implementing changes as necessary to improve participant experiences
  • Teaches group and private lessons for 10 hours per week
  • Support with marketing collaborations to promote aquatic programs and increase community engagement

  • Support with responding to member inquiries regarding programs, products, services, policies, and procedures in a professional and timely manner.

Experience/Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory role and a proven track record of successful team leadership
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of swim lesson instructor experience

  • Current certifications in Lifeguarding, and First Aid/CPR/AED
  • Current Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator certification is preferred, but must be able to obtain within 90 days of being hired
  • Water Safety Instruction and additional certifications in specialized aquatic programs (e.g., water fitness, coaching) are preferred
  • Knowledge of aquatic facility operations and safety standards
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including program management software and Microsoft Office suite

Early Childhood Teacher

Youth and Family Jewish Educator/Program Coordinator

Position Summary

The Youth and Family Jewish Educator/Program Coordinator serves as the Jewish education ambassador to the Early Childhood School (ECS) and program coordinator for the Youth and Family department. Half of the time will be spent in the ECS, implementing lessons with ECS students regarding general Jewish culture, holidays, traditions and introductory Hebrew language. In this role, the ECS Jewish Educator will help provide the highest quality programs for our youngest learners and their families at the ECS by providing professional development, training and resources for our teachers and students. Reporting to the Director of Jewish Life, this position will work closely with the JCC’s main Jewish Education professional to align and integrate the ECS’ Jewish curriculum with the JCC’s larger approach to Jewish learning. The other half of the time will be spent working with Jewish Life writ large at the JCC and the Youth and Family department, primarily supporting our PJ Library programs, Friday Night Shabbat (a monthly Shabbat experience for families), and self-driven programs to engage elementary and middle school-aged children.  The position is full-time, with full benefits package.

The Youth and Family Jewish Educator/Program Coordinator is responsible for:
  • Planning, teaching, organizing and developing Jewish curriculum and content at the Early Childhood School.
  • Planning, developing and implementing Jewish enrichment and holiday programs, such as Purim, Shavuot, Sukkot and Hanukkah.
  • Planning, developing and implementing Jewish education for ECS staff.
  • Supporting Director of Jewish Life in holiday initiatives around the JCC, particularly the Yoms (modern Israeli holidays)

The J Play Attendant provides drop-in childcare for parents who use the Mayerson JCC’s fitness facilities. The J Play Attendant provides childcare to infants through pre-teen years. The J Play Attendant ensures the safety of all children.

  • Effectively teach all levels of swim instruction under Swim Lessons University standards, possessing full knowledge of the skills at each level.
