Set Design Instructor

About the Class
This six-week program gives students ages 10 – 17 the opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a show!
Students will work with the set designer to build, paint, and design all the aspects of our fall production of Aristophanes’ ‘The Birds.’ After construction is complete, students will have the opportunity to assist in technical rehearsals with prop management, costume support, opening and closing the curtain, and moving set pieces for scene changes.
Position Summary
Working closely with the director and other members of our show’s creative team, the Set Design Instructor will coordinate and oversee the artistic design and construction of the set for Aristophanes ‘The Birds.”
The instructor will supervise and instruct a small student crew in both artistic and practical design, as well as ensuring safe practices. Construction will primarily consist of repainting existing sets/flats and building new pieces out of foamcore, cardboard, and lauan.  This is not a carpentry course, and students are not permitted to operate power tools.
After construction is complete, the Set Design Instructor will serve as an Assistant Stage Manager helping oversee the behind-the-scenes management of sets and props during dress rehearsals and performances.
Classes begin on Monday, October 5 and run every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter from 5:30 – 7pm. Additional rehearsals begin November 2, with performances on November 12 and 15. There are no Friday or Saturday rehearsals. Instructor will be required to attend a pre-production meeting with the director and thereafter submit a design proposal and construction schedule/lesson plan for the six weeks of class.
Candidates Should Have the Following Skills and Experience
  • Supervise and support the Early Childhood School Jewish Educator.
    Partner with Early Childhood School leadership to strengthen Jewish learning, culture, and family engagement throughout the school community.
  • Collaborate on family engagement opportunities connected to Jewish holidays, traditions, and values.
  • Lead holiday programming, Shabbat experiences, cultural celebrations, workshops, and community conversations.
  • Develop accessible and engaging educational materials, experiential opportunities, and community-building initiatives.

Dual Esthetician/Massage Therapist Role (Part-Time)

Job Description

Arch Amenities Group, the world’s leading spa, fitness and leisure firm, is seeking a Dual Therapist who is a Licensed Massage Therapist and maintains a current Esthetician License.   • Previous massage and body work experience.
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a spa.
  • Must be able to build rapport with guest.
  • Ability to explain various treatments/services to guests.
  • Excellent customer service skills and work ethic.
  • Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.

  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance (wears spa uniform, as required). Must not wear perfume or bring other fragrances or scented items into the spa.

Licensed Massage Therapist (Part-Time)

Job Description

Arch Amenities Group, the world’s leading spa, fitness and leisure firm, is seeking a part-time Massage Therapist. The Massage Therapist is responsible for providing massages and other body treatments to guests of our facility and during off-site health fairs and marketing events. This position requires at least one day on the weekend, as well as at least one evening during the week.

J Play Attendant

Description

The J Play/Club J Attendant provides drop-in childcare for parents who use the Mayerson JCC’s fitness facilities. The J Play/Club J Attendant provides childcare to infants through pre-teen years. The J Play/Club Attendant ensures the safety of all children.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure children are cared for in a safe environment.
  • Be attentive to needs and engaged with each child.
  • Provide safe and age-appropriate playtime for children.
  • Maintain clean, neat, and presentable J Play and Club J rooms.
  • Record drop-off and pick-up for each child.

The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing quality fitness and exercise programs designed to meet the needs of members, residents or guests.

Responsibilities

Ensuring that a safe and healthy environment exists for exercising
Arriving to teach class in advance of the scheduled time to greet participants, answer questions and address concerns
Dressing appropriately for teaching exercise classes
Arriving well-prepared, music cued and routine thought out
Knowing the names of participants who attend your classes
Sharing educational information with your class participants
Teaching classes with energy and enthusiasm
Motivating class participants to the best of your ability

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safety of all swimmers by preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations. Enforcement of all pool rules and regulations in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Provide quick response to emergency situations in water/deck area.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance: adjust feeders when necessary, check operations of pump and flow meter, vacuum pool, wash down deck and pump room, clean stainless steel and filters, record pool readings, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable on all aquatic information and programming. Display a professional appearance with appropriate dress/uniform.
  • Is timely and punctual when reporting to work. Ensure the aquatic area is safe, clean and orderly.
