COVID-19 Response FAQs

What changes have been made to ensure the health & safety of members & guests within the facility?

The J exceeds the CDC and Ohio Department of Health’s cleaning protocols and social distancing regulations, some of which include:

  • Contactless, thermographic camera takes temperatures of all staff and members upon arrival
  • Fitness classes being offered in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations
  • Reservations required for certain activities such as Gymnasium time slots, pool reservations, and select Group Ex classes
  • Equipment is spaced generously throughout our facility to ensure safe social distances are maintained.

Who will be screened before entering the J?

Everyone! Any person who walks through our doors will have their temperature taken through our state-of-the-art thermographic camera which is contactless and highly accurate; this includes members (both adults and children), staff, vendors, and volunteers.

Will everyone (including staff) be required to wear a mask in the building?

Face coverings are required for everyone over age 2 while in the building at all times. Members and staff are required to wear a face covering throughout the entire building excluding when they are working out, swimming, showering, eating, drinking, or socially distanced in the courtyard.

Those who have trouble breathing or are unable to remove a face covering without assistance are exempt from the mask requirement. Please note that alternative face covering protocols may be in place for children participating in specific JCC programs.

If you are not able to wear a face covering, please alert us before making your appointment so we can manage your health and safety needs.

Will Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & sanitizer be available to members and users?

Hand sanitizer stations and cleaning wipes have been set up throughout the building. Members should arrive with their own masks.

Will food service, locker rooms, bathrooms, & water fountains be available?

The J Café is open with new menu items added for you to enjoy during your visit at the J or by ordering online for pick-up!

Locker rooms are available and are cleaned regularly, but the towel service is currently unavailable. We ask that you still socially distance and wear masks in the locker rooms when you aren’t showering. Bathrooms are open, but water fountains are closed for your safety.

Are there classes & programs I could participate in from home?

Yes, we have shifted many of our fitness classes to be available online. Check out hundreds of prerecorded and live workout classes on our Facebook Group called J Cincy Fitness Community, accessible through our Mayerson JCC Facebook Page.

Do you offer any workout classes outside?

Yes, we built an Outdoor Fitness Tent located at the J parking lot that is accessible until November 30! We also are offering new classes at Amberley Park right next to the Police Station, weather permitting. There are so many options, classes, and trainers to choose from – head here to find out more.
