Jewish Women Breaking Boundaries Presentations and Workshops inspired by Jewish Women and the Graphic Novel

The twentieth and twenty-first centuries include countless examples of the first woman, as well as the profound metamorphosis of societal norms and ideologies related to gender. Jewish women have been part of this story. Join Cincinnati’s Global Day of Jewish Learning to commemorate the past historical contributions of Jewish women and reflect upon the challenges and experiences of all those who break boundaries. Dr. Sarah Lightman (editor of the award-winning book Graphic Details: Jewish Women’s Confessional Comics, 2014; and author of The Book of Sarah, 2019) will present the keynote address on the topic of “Jewish Women and the Graphic Novel,” followed by break-out groups/workshops conducted by leading local scholars and artists that will explore, experience, and create narratives of transformation through study and artistic creativity.

In partnership with University of Cincinnati Department of Judaic Studies and Women Writing for a Change.

Global Day of Jewish Learning is an intercontinental effort to engage Jewish communities across the globe in study.
